Safeguarding

Our Safeguarding Policy & Procedures aim to enhance the safety and well-being of all who engage with Vocation Brisbane, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Safeguarding Commitment

Vocation Brisbane is committed to upholding the Archdiocese of Brisbane’s safeguarding commitment.

The Archdiocese has zero tolerance for all forms of abuse and is committed to safeguarding everyone involved in its activities, ministries, and services.

The safety and well-being of children and adults-at-risk is paramount.

Evangelisation Brisbane Safeguarding Commitment

Evangelisation Brisbane is actively committed to upholding the dignity of all human life by providing and facilitating spaces that are emotionally, physically, and spiritually safe in our work of supporting parishes and communities in the Archdiocese.

We commit to maintaining policies and practices that promote a culture that values strong safeguarding principles and present a sense of sanctuary for the vulnerable.

As an organisation, we commit to listening, walking alongside, and sharing the appropriate avenues for support for those who make disclosures of personal sensitive information

Safeguarding Principles

The following principles guide how safeguarding is undertaken in the Archdiocese:

  • All Archdiocesan personnel, regardless of their position, are responsible for the protection and well-being of others who interact with the Archdiocese. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

  • Archdiocesan personnel will treat everyone who interacts with the Archdiocese with dignity and respect, regardless of their gender, sexuality, abilities, religion, culture or ethnicity.

  • Archdiocesan personnel will prioritise the safety, well-being and best interests of children and adults at risk who interact with the Archdiocese.

  • Archdiocesan personnel will respond to all abuse risks, concerns, allegations and incidents promptly and effectively conscientiously complying with all Archdiocesan and legal reporting requirements.

Non-compliance with, or breaches of the safeguarding policy and associated standards, legislation, procedures, practices or guidelines may constitute misconduct and result in action up to and including dismissal and/or referral to statutory authorities.
